Jayce Tingler

BACK IN THE DUGOUT: Tingler's return to the major league coaching staff was announced on November 14, 2018…the 38-year-old will be in his 13th season with the Texas organization, serving in a newly created role in which he will be the outfield and baserunning coach as well as having player development responsibilities at the big league level…spent the 2017-18 seasons as assistant general manager, fulfilling duties that involved oversight of the club's player development system, this after serving as Field Coordinator and outfield and baserunning coach for the big league coaching staff in 2015-16…prior to becoming a member of the big league staff, assisted the major league coaches in spring training and during select regular season series in preceding years…has served as the major league first base coach on an interim basis at various points in his coaching career. 

IN THE MINORS: Before his initial stint on the major league staff in 2015-16, spent three years (2012-14) as Rangers minor league field coordinator, overseeing all on-field instruction for farm players, as well as organizing spring training and instructional league…served as coordinator of instruction for club's Arizona and Dominican Republic operations in 2011… also spent three seasons as a manager in Dominican Summer League (2008-09) and Arizona League (2010), leading all three squads to first-place finishes and a collective 124-62 (.667) record…named DSL Manager of the Year in 2009…the 2010 AZL Rangers won the West Division in first season of a new 12-team format…began his coaching career in the Dominican as a hitting coach in 2007. 

PLAYING CAREER: Played parts of four minor league seasons in the Toronto (2003-05) and Texas (2006) systems before pursuing a coaching role…averaged one strikeout every 15.55 AB as a pro, career .271 hitter with .378 OBP…selected by Rangers from Blue Jays in Triple-A phase of 2005 Rule 5 Draft, and batted .299 with Bakersfield (High-A) and Frisco (AA) in his lone season in Texas system in 2006…had .330 figure at Bakersfield to earn a midseason California League All-Star selection that year, and was a Florida State League All-Star in 2004…originally selected by Toronto in 10th round of 2003 June draft following standout career at University of Missouri…following his senior season at Mizzou, was the school's all-time leader in hits, walks, and runs, and ranked second in stolen bases. 

PERSONAL: Jayce Michael Tingler…married to the former Callie Langton (9/26/08), and couple resides in their native Smithville, Mo. with sons Gabe (12/30/11) and Gio (9/26/13)… attended Smithville High School.
