Casey Candaele


Casey Todd Candaele (can-DELL)…resides in San Luis Obispo, CA, with wife Christy, and three children: Dylan, Brady and Reece...graduated from Lompoc (CA) High School-attended University of Arizona and was a member of the 1980 NCAA Championship team...originally signed with Montreal in 1982...his mother, Helen Callaghan, was a member of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League...following his career, while coaching high school and college, he also established his own plumbing company (2000-2010).


In his second season as the Mariners first base coach, and his second season as a big league coach, overall…in addition to first base coaching duties, works with outfielders and on baserunning...spent 2015 as the Texas Rangers minor league field coordinator, overseeing all on-field instruction for minor league position players...was the Rangers minor league infield and baserunning coordinator from 2011-2014...from 2000 to 2010 he held various coaching positions at San Luis Obispo (CA) High School and in summer collegiate baseball leagues.


Originally signed with Montreal in 1982…he had an 18-year professional career from 1983-2000, appearing in the Majors with Montreal (1986-88), Houston (1988, 1990-93) and Cleveland (1996-97)...appeared at every position except pitcher and catcher in big leagues...he batted a combined .250 with 86 doubles, 11 homers and 139 RBI in 754 career MLB games...appeared in 2 games in 1996 ALDS (walked in only PA and scored 1 run).
