Jacoby Ellsbury paced the Boston offense, batting .500 (9-for-18) with two doubles, two RBIs and seven runs. Yunel Escobar led the Rays with seven hits, three runs and two doubles.
Craig Breslow made three scoreless relief appearances for the Red Sox, earning a victory and striking out four in 3 2/3 innings.
