Trained in the Dominican Republic during the 2014 season after spending five years with Naranjas de VillaClara in Cuba's Serie Nacional, considered the premier league in Cuba. Hit .356 (26-for-73) with a .440 OBP in 2013, his final year with Villa Clara. Both marks were the second-highest on the club and established new careers highs. Matched walks and strikeouts at eight apiece, the third consecutive season in which he collected at leastas many free passes as strikeouts. Plated 15-of-35 runners in scoring position, six times either tying the game or giving Villa Clara the lead. Made his season debut 11/28/12 and collected his first hit of the season a day later, tallying a pinch-hit RBIsingle in his only at-bat. Got the start for the first time on 12/16 and collected a hit in two at-bats, stroking a double and walkingtwice in Villa Clara's 4-0 win. Stroked a game-high three hits in four at-bats on 12/27 [2], with one double, one run and an RBI. Compiled 63.0 innings in the field between left field and first base, making one error.
