Selected out of Waiakea (Hawaii) High School…as a junior, was named the state's Player of the Year and led Waiakea to the state title…originally committed to the University of Hawaii before signing with the Rays…his older brother, Kolten, was selected by the Cardinals in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2011 June Draft and played for the Cardinals in the 2013 World Series…Kean was fishing on Jan 13 when he got the false alert of an inbound missile to Hawaii…according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, he described a beach scene that included "other fisherman tossing their poles into the water and skedaddling for shelter that wasn't readily available"…it took another 38 minutes for another notification that the alert had been sent by mistake.

2017

Spent the entire season with Triple-A Durham aside from a two-week stay with Double-A Montgomery in May…combined to hit .261/.322/.348 (110-for-422) with 22 2B, 5 HR and 48 RBI…made a pitching app with Durham in a 13-9, 11-inning loss on May 10 vs. Columbus (Indians)…helped the Bulls win the Governors' Cup and was named Most Valuable Player of the Triple-A National Championship Game win over Memphis (Cardinals), hitting a go-ahead grand slam in the 4th inning.

2016

Spent the entire season with Montgomery and was named to the Southern League midseason All-Star Team…finished 10th in the league with a .276 avg. …hit .313 (25-for-80) in 22 games for the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League.

2015

With Class-A Charlotte, hit .305/.341/.367 (78-for-256) in his final 67 games, compared to .217/.280/.268 (30-for-138) before that…hit .349 (37-for-106) vs. LHP.

2014

Named Most Valuable Player for Class-A Bowling Green by the Rays Baseball Operations department…named to the Midwest League midseason and postseason All-Star teams…led the Hot Rods with 129 hits and a .306 avg., which ranked 2nd in the MWL and 3rd among Rays minor leaguers…ranked by Baseball America as the Best Batting Prospect and Best Defensive Second Baseman in the MWL in its Best Tools survey.

Named Most Valuable Player for the GCL Rays by the Rays Baseball Operations department…his .328 avg. ranked 4th in the Gulf Coast League and 1st among Rays minor leaguers.
