Heath Devon Fillmyer was originally signed by A's scout Ron Vaughn…graduated from Florence High School (NJ)…attended Mercer County Community College (NJ)…went 9-0 with a 0.68 ERA as a sophomore, leading MCCC to the Junior College World Series…originally an infielder, he threw fewer than 10 innings as a freshman before logging 66 innings as a sophomore.


Began the year at Single-A Stockton and was 5-6 with a 3.60 ERA in 18 games (16 starts) when he was promoted to Double-A Midland in late July…went 2-0 with a 2.54 ERA in eight starts with the RockHounds and was a combined 7-6 with a 3.29 ERA in 26 games (24 starts) overall…yielded just seven home runs in 134.0 innings, an average of 0.47 per nine innings…ranked sixth in the A's farm system in strikeouts (118), ninth in innings pitched and 10th in ERA…allowed a .253 opponents batting average, including .246 (69-for-280) against right-handed hitters and .260 (63-for-242) against left-handers… surrendered five of his seven home runs to righties…all seven home runs were solo shots…had a .281 opponents batting average with runners in scoring position…went 2-2 with a 1.63 ERA in nine starts at home for Stockton and 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA in four starts at home with Midland…combined at both levels to go 3-4 with a 4.96 ERA in 13 games on the road…was 2-1 with a 1.23 ERA in four starts during the day, 5-5 with a 3.69 ERA in 22 games at night…had a 1.13 ERA in the first inning.

Made his professional debut with the A's affiliate in the Arizona Rookie League and appeared in six games, all in relief…was 1-0 with a 2.79 ERA and .147 opponents batting average…struck out 10 batters in 9.2 innings and did not allow a home run…yielded a .091 batting average to left-handed hitters compared to .174 to right-handers…opponents hit .111 when leading off an inning…stranded his only inherited runner…allowed a run on two hits and a walk while striking out one in 1.0 innings in his debut July 21 against the Indians…was credited with his first professional win Aug. 16 at the Padres (1.2 ip, 1 h, 1 bb, 2 so).
