Mariners waive Zych, option Rumbelow

The Mariners' bullpen depth has taken a couple hits this spring due to injuries, leading the club on Saturday to waive Tony Zych and option Nick Rumbelow to Triple-A Tacoma. Two starting candidates -- Andrew Moore and Johendi Jiminian -- were also sent to Minor League camp, leaving 52 players still in competition for spots on the 25-man roster.

Ramirez may not be ready for Opening Day

Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto acknowledged there's no certainty that right-hander Erasmo Ramirez will be ready for the start of the season after being diagnosed Sunday with a strained lat muscle in his right side.
