Married Monica in December 2015...Was born in Seoul, South Korea, and adopted by Clint and Jane Refsnyder when he was five months old (his older sister, Elizabeth, was also adopted)...is one of just two South Korea-born players to appear for the Yankees, joining RHP Chan Ho Park, who made 27 relief appearances for the team in 2010...at the time of his Major League debut in 2015, became only the fourth South Korea-born position player in Major League history (also Texas OF Shin-Soo Choo, Pittsburgh INF Jung Ho Kang and former INF Hee-Seop Choi)...Attended Laguna Hills High School (Calif.), where he played baseball, basketball and football...as a junior, was named "Player of the Year" in his conference as an outside linebacker...the following year, he was a quarterback, leading his team to an undefeated season and a state championship... Attended the University of Arizona and was an outfielder...as a junior, was a member of the 2012 College World Series Champion Arizona Wildcats, earning CWS "Most Outstanding Player" honors...Won a gold medal at the IBAF World Youth Championships in Venezuela with the USA Youth National Team in 2007.
