Michael Thomas Roth...On Twitter: @mtRoth29. Attended Riverside HS (SC) and the University of South Carolina. Helped lead South Carolina to the championship round of the College World Series in three straight seasons...The Gamecocks captured back-to-back CWS crowns in 2010 and 2011 and were defeated by Arizona in the 2012 championship series. Named Baseball America first team All-American in 2011 after leading all Division I starters in ERA at 1.06. Pitched for Great Britain in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, tossing 3.1 innings and giving up four runs. Originally signed by Angels scout Brandon McArthur.

Completed rookie season with 1-1 record and 7.20 ERA (20 IP - 16 ER) in 15 games (one start) across three separate stints with the Angels... Earned the win in Major League debut on April 13th vs. Houston, becoming first Halos reliever to win ML debut since Curt Brown in 1983…Became first Angel reliever to throw two innings and strike out four batters in Major League debut... Made first big league start on April 24 vs. Texas…In a losing effort, gave up five runs on six hits with two strikeouts in 3.1 innings of work... Did not allow a run in final five relief appearances for Angels (5 IP) while allowing just one hit and two walks.
