Tyler James Collins Bio Info

Resides in Trophy Club, TX during the offseason. Selected the American Baseball Coaches Association NJCAA Division I Player of the Year in 2011 after hitting .488 (105 for 215) with 34 doubles, four triples, 19 home runs, 82 RBIs and 16 stolen bases in 59 games as a sophomore at Howard College in Texas. Saw action in 35 games with Coppell in the Texas Collegiate League during the summer of 2011, hitting .310 (45 for 145) with four doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 22 RBI -- named the top prospect in the Texas Collegiate League by Baseball America. Attended the Tigers Winter Caravan and participated in the Dreams Come True program. Recommended/signed by Tim Grieve for the Tigers. 

2015

Split time between the Tigers and Triple A Toledo in 2015 -- hit .266 (51 for 192) with 18 runs scored, 11 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 25 RBI in 60 games with Detroit, while he hit .247 (47 for 190) with 21 runs scored, 10 doubles, two home runs and 20 RBI in 53 games with the Mud Hens. Had his contract recalled from Triple-A Toledo on May 19. Recorded first stolen base of his major league career on May 30 at Los Angeles Angels. Hit the second pinch hit home run of his career on June 17 at Cincinnati. Optioned to Triple-A Toledo on June 19. Hit a pair of home runs and drove in five runs on June 25 at Durham.Recalled from Triple-A Toledo on July 31. Hit safely in a career-high six straight games from August 11-19, hitting .429 (9 for 21) with two runs scored, three doubles and five RBI during the stretch -- also had a six-game hitting streak from September 27-October 4, batting .421 (8 for 19) with two runs scored, two doubles, one triple, one home run and eight RBI during the streak. Finished September/October with a .293 (22 for 75) batting average with eight runs scored, six doubles, one triple, two home runs and 13 RBI. Hit .286 (4 for 14) with lefthanded pitchers on the mound...batted .264 (47x178) against righthanded pitchers.
