Rangers make minor deal among several roster moves

The Rangers sent relief pitcher Spencer Patton to the Cubs for infielder Frandy Delarosa and added four players to their 40-man Major League roster on Friday.

The Rangers called up right-handed reliever Spencer Patton for the final game of the season Sunday. Manager Jeff Banister said Derek Holland also was available out of the bullpen for Game 162 against the Angels.

Spencer Burdette Patton...pitched 3 seasons at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a career record of 13-10 in 36 games/30 starts…fanned 201 in 172.2 innings...was 9-3 with a 2.55 ERA in 2011...had 2nd most strikeouts (109) and 3rd most wins in a season in school history...was the the Rawlings Division I Gold Glove winner as a pitcher that season...missed most of 2010 season with a knee injury...earned Co-Player of the Year honors in the Coastal Plains Summer League in 2009...attended Parkland College in Champaign, IL, earning an associate degree in science in 2008...lettered 4 times in baseball and 3 in basketball at South Central High, in Farina, IL (graduated 2006)...was 3rd team all-state in basketball and baseball MVP in senior year.
