Beau Ritchie Taylor was originally signed by A's scout Trevor Schaffer...graduated from Rockledge (FL) High School...attended the University of Central Florida...batted .337 with 16 home runs and 105 RBI in his college career...was a Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-America selection. 2012 Batted a combined .292 with three home runs and 44 RBI in 88 games with Single-A Stockton and Double-A Midland...ranked fourth in the A's farm system in batting...added 39 walks for a .372 on-base percentage, which was sixth best among A's minor leaguers...batted .312 (78-for-250) with all three of his home runs and 39 of his 44 RBI against right-handed pitching compared to .215 (14-for-65) against left-handers...slugged .404 against righties, .292 against lefties...his average improved each month at Stockton as he hit .229 in April, .283 in May, .342 in June and .457 in eight games in July before his promotion to Midland on the 12th...then hit .300 in 15 games in July with the RockHounds for a .365 average in the month overall...batted .159 in August...hit .400 when leading off an inning with Stockton, .130 with Midland...appeared in 61 games catcher and one in left field...tossed out 17-of-71 (23.9%) attempted base stealers...did not commit an error in 26 games behind the plate with Midland...also batted .313 with two of his three home runs and 19 RBI in 26 games as the designated hitter...hit in every spot in the order except leadoff and saw his most action with 32 games batting eighth. 2011 Made his professional debut with Short Season Vermont but appeared in just five games before he was promoted to Single-A Burlington June 27...went 2-for-18 (.111) in five games with the Lake Monsters and hit .293 in 43 games with the Bees...batted a combined .272 with no home runs and 18 RBI in 48 games...hit .323 against right-handed pitching compared to .161 against left-handers...his average improved each month as he batted .143 in June, .260 in July and .321 in August...also went 1-for-3 (.333) in September...had a .333 average with runners in scoring position, including .400 with RISP and two outs...appeared in 34 games at catcher and tossed out 17-of-44 (38.6%) attempted base stealers...also hit .250 in 13 games at designated hitter and was 0-for-2 with a walk as a pinch hitter... hit in every spot in the order except third...after hitting .111 in five games with Vermont, he batted .196 over his first 17 games with Burlington...then went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles July 30 at Wisconsin and batted .352 over his final 26 games...hit safely in a season-high five consecutive games from Aug. 4 to 9 (6-for-19, .316) and Aug. 23 to 29 (8-for-22, .364)...went 2-for-7 (.286) with a double and walk in two postseason games for Burlington.
