Married to Vanessa...The couple has a son, Roenis Jr. As a native of Guantanamo, Cuba, established residency in Mexico in late 2010 before signing with SEA...Played for Guantanamo in Cuba's major league, Serie Nacional.

Allowed 4 ER or more in 9 of his Triple-A starts, but gave up 3 ER or fewer in 15 of his 20 ML starts...Made 11 quality starts with the Mariners. Led High Desert in wins…only the 4th pitcher in franchise history to start at least 25 games and have an ERA under 4.00 in a single season; joins John Patterson (2.83) and Brad Penny (2.96) in 1998 and Luis Galindez (3.87) in 1992…his 11 wins rank T8th in a single season by a Mavericks pitcher…led the team with 12 quality starts including 6 of his final 8 starts of the season; during this 8-game stretch, from July 16-Aug. 31, went 5-1 with a 2.34 ERA (13 ER, 50.0 IP)…recorded his first career double digit strikeout game with a career-high 11 K's in 7.2 innings on July 21 at Stockton (7.2,6,3,3,1,11,HR).
