Clayton Walter Holmes..Is a 2011 graduate of Slocomb (AL) High School, where he helped lead the baseball team to a runner-up finish in the Class 3A playoffs as a senior...Went 11-5 for Slocomb as a junior while also recording 126 strikeouts...Was ranked as the 76th-best pitching prospect and 140th best overall prospect by Baseball America entering the 2011 draft...Was committed to play baseball at Auburn University before signing with the Pirates...Carried a 4.0 grade point average and was Slocomb's class valedictorian while also being recognized by the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association as its Student Athlete-of-the-Year in 2011...Spent three years playing on Slocomb's varsity basketball team, where he averaged a double-double in both his junior and senior seasons...His brother, Jacob, played junior college baseball at Enterprise State College...Signed by Pirates scout Darren Mazeroski.
