2016

Pitched for three different teams in the A's farm system and was a combined 3-3 with seven saves and a 4.28 ERA in 45 appearances…had career highs in strikeouts (86), games, innings pitched (61.0), hits (57), runs (31) and home runs (6) and matched his high in losses…tied for eighth in the A's farm system in saves…averaged 12.69 strikeouts per nine innings…began the season at Single-A Stockton and was 2-1 with three saves and a 1.04 ERA in 13 games before he was promoted to Double-A Midland May 16…went 0-1 with four saves and a 2.33 ERA in 12 games with the RockHounds and was moved up to Triple-A Sacramento July 1…compiled a 1-1 record and an 8.14 ERA in 20 appearances with the River Cats…had 58 strikeouts and 10 walks with Stockton and Midland (5.80 strikeout-to-walk ratio) and 28 strikeouts and 14 walks with Sacramento (2.00 strikeout-to-walk ratio)…converted all seven of his save opportunities with Stockton and Midland but blew his only save chance with Sacramento… combined with all three clubs for a .243 opponents batting average…that included a .233 mark against right-handed hitters compared to .255 against left-handers…yielded a .194 average with the bases empty, .297 with runners on…allowed 3-of-12 (25.0%) inherited runners to score…struck out a season-high six batters in 2.0 innings May 7 at Visalia (also had six strikeouts in 2.0 innings May 31 at Tulsa…did not allow a run over an eight-game stretch from May 31 to June 25 (12.1 ip)…opponents went 8-for-45 (.178) over that span.

Started the season at Single-A Beloit of the Midwest League and was 0-1 with two saves and a 0.94 ERA in 18 relief appearances when he was transferred to Single-A Stockton of the California League June 20…went 1-1 with three saves and a 1.86 ERA in 15 appearances with the Ports…combined for a 1-2 record, five saves and a career-low 1.31 ERA in 33 relief appearances overall…struck out 74 batters in 48.0 innings, an average of 13.88 per nine innings…walked just 10 (1.88 per nine innings) for a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 7.40…allowed a .189 opponents batting average, including .167 against right-handed hitters compared to .224 against left-handed hitters…issued all 10 of his walks to lefties…yielded a .158 average with runners in scoring position…opponents hit .093 with a .152 on-base percentage when leading off an inning…was 5-for-7 (71.4%) in save opportunities…allowed 4-of-11 (36.4%) inherited runners to score…did not allow an earned run over his final 14 games with Beloit (19.1 ip) or his first four games with Stockton (5.0 ip)…surrendered an earned run in just five of 33 outings overall…struck out at least one batter in each of his 33 games…had a 15.0-inning scoreless streak from May 10 to June 14…did not allow a run over his final nine games (12.1 ip) and opponents were 5-for-43 (.116) over that span…was placed on the disabled list Aug. 11 with strained left oblique muscle and missed the remainder of the season.
