Cubs confirm Edwards' confidence unshaken

What's the first thing Carl Edwards Jr. wanted to do after serving up a game-tying homer to the Nationals' Bryce Harper on Saturday? Edwards was hoping he could pitch on Sunday. The problem with that is Sunday was an off-day for the National League Division Series presented by T-Mobile, which is tied at 1-1.

Carl spent his first full season in the majors in 2017, settling into a set-up role for the Cubs in which he recorded 25 holds and pitched to a 2.98 ERA (22 ER/66.1 IP) in 73 relief appearances... Since making his major league debut with Chicago in September of 2015, has posted a 3.28 ERA (39 ER/107.0 IP) while going 5-5 with two saves and 31 holds in 114 career games ... has struck out 150 and walked 55... As of the end of the 2017 season, he was one of only five active MLB players drafted and signed in the 48th round or later (also Efren Navarro, Vidal Nuño, Jarrod Dyson and Nik Turley) ... he is the first to play for the Cubs after being drafted and signed in the 48th round or later since Justin Speier in 1998 (55th round, 1995)...
