The Nationals recalled right-handed reliever Blake Treinen on Thursday, one day after a disappointing outing from several members of the bullpen cost them a game against Arizona.

Treinen...pitched collegiately as a walk-on and graduated from South Dakota State University...went 10-4 with a 4.46 ERA in 25 career starts spanning 2 seasons (2010-11) for the Jackrabbits...fanned 9.4 per 9.0 innings at SDSU...before arrival in Brookings, SD, studied at University of Arkansas and Baker (KS) University...was member of Baker's JV squad...attempted to try out at Arkansas, but program did not have a program for walk-ons...was forced to sit out 2009 campaign while transferring from Arkansas to South Dakota State...graduated from Osage City (KS) High.
