Riefenhauser is in his first season in the Cubs organization after being claimed off waivers from Baltimore, February 12, 2016 ... spent parts of the last two seasons at the big league level with the Tampa Bay Rays, going 1-0 with a 6.30 ERA (14 ER/20.0 IP) in 24 relief appearances. Was traded twice during the past offseason, going from Tampa Bay to Seattle in a six-player deal, November 5, 2015 and then was acquired by Baltimore in a three-player deal, December 2, 2015 ... was designated for assignment by the Orioles, February 4, 2016. Has gone 30-23 with 15 saves and a 2.77 ERA (138 ER/448.0 IP) in 191 minor league outings, including 42 starts ... made his professional debut in 2010 and last season split time between Tampa Bay and Triple-A Durham. Originally selected by Tampa Bay in the 20th round of the 2010 Draft. Attended Iona College (N.Y.) for the fall semester of his freshman year before transferring to Guilford Tech Community College in Greensboro, N.C. ... later transferred to Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Fla.
