Before Friday afternoon's game against the Cubs, the Braves enhanced their roster by adding two position players -- Rio Ruiz and Tony Sanchez -- and four pitchers -- left-handers Max Fried, Ian Krol and Rex Brothers, and right-hander Luke Jackson.

His father, Edward, played football at Florida State, while his mother, Kim, ran track at University of Louisville...Played soccer and football in his youth and did not begin pitching until the ninth grade.

2016

Split the season between Texas, the 15-day disabled list and the minor leagues, appearing in eight games for the Rangers... Also played with Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock... Began the year on the 15-day DL with back stiff ness...Reinstated on 4/13 and optioned that day to Round Rock... Returned to Texas on 5/16 until returning to Round Rock on 6/9...Also up from 6/22-7/3...Spent the remainder of the season with Frisco, striking out better than a batter per inning (32 SO/241. IP)...For the minor league season, compiled a 1-1 record and a 3.69 ERA (19 ER/46.1 IP) in 36 games out of the bullpen...Also had three saves. 

2015

Had no record and a 4.26 ERA (3 ER/6.1 IP) in seven games over two stints (Aug. 8-10 and Sept. 1-end of season) with Texas in his first ML action…rated as the club's 12th-best prospect by Baseball America prior to the season and made the conversion to the bullpen in early May after starting 97 of his first 101 pro games… had a career-best 10.7 SO/9 with Round Rock, including 12.7 SO/9 as a reliever.
