Erik Van Norman Goeddel graduated from Bellarmine (CA) Prep in 2008…Named to the 2006 Aflac All-American team and was ranked as high as the No. 2 high school player in the Class of 2007 by Baseball America…Missed his senior year with an injury...Named the MVP of the 2004, 15-and-under World Wood Bat Association Tournament... Attended UCLA where he made 36 relief appearances in 2010 to help the Bruins reach the finals of the College World Series…He did not allow an earned run in four postseason appearances, including two outings at the College World Series...Members on that UCLA team included Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole and Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer...Brother, Tyler, is an outfielder in the Phillies organization after being selected in this year's Rule 5 draft...Was originally a member of Tampa Bay's farm system.
