One of the expected September callups for the Marlins has joined the team a couple of days early. Right-hander Austin Brice was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Monday, and lefty Justin Nicolino was optioned to the Zephyrs.

The Miami Marlins placed right-handed reliever A.J. Ramos on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a third right finger fracture (retroactive to Saturday) and optioned left-hander Hunter Cervenka to Triple-A New Orleans.

Spent entire season with Double-A Jacksonville, posting 6-9 record and 4.67 ERA (125.1 ip/65 er) in 25 starts. Set career highs in starts and strikeouts (127)...Led Suns in starts, innings pitched and strikeouts while ranking tied for third in wins...Among Southern League starters, ranked third in walks (69) and strikeouts-per-9.0 (9.12), and fifth in strikeouts...Started season with 5.0 scoreless frames against Jackson on April 13, surrendering just one hit and two walks while striking out five...Did not provide another scoreless outing until June 29 win against Biloxi. Allowed just one hit over career-best 8.0 innings while striking out career-high 13...Over first 13 outings, amassed 2-6 record with 6.37 ERA (59.1/42). Tossed 5.0-or-more innings five times over that span, allowing three-or-more runs seven times...Improved greatly over final 12 starts, posting 4-3 record with 3.14 ERA (66.0/23).
