Collins likely to make Opening Day roster

The Tigers aren't yet saying Tyler Collins is on the Opening Day roster for the second time in three years, but with Tuesday's move to option Wynton Bernard to Triple-A Toledo, it's looking that way, barring a last-minute move.

Spent all of the 2015 season at Double-A Erie, batting .301 (161-for-534) with 78 runs scored, 29 doubles, eight triples, four home runs, 36 RBIs and 43 stolen bases in 135 games. Led the Eastern League with 161 hits, eight triples and 43 stolen bases, while he was second with 78 runs scored and fifth with a .301 batting average -- his 161 hits ranked as the second-most in a single-season in franchise history. Named a Tigers organizational all-star by MiLB.com. Selected to the midseason and postseason Eastern League All-Star Team. Compiled a 20-game hitting streak from April 19-May 13 -- during the streak, he hit .346 (28-for-81) with 13 runs scored, six doubles, one triple, one home run and seven RBI...the streak was tied for the longest single-season streak in Erie franchise history. Named Eastern League Player of the Week for the week ending May 24 after hitting .462 (12-for-26) with seven runs scored, five doubles, one home run and five RBI in six games.
