Hechavarria, Capps could return this weekend

Miami reliever Carter Capps passed another test on Thursday, tossing 20 pitches in a simulated game at Marlins Park. The way the right-hander is progressing, the club hasn't ruled out his return to the roster at some point during the weekend series with the Braves. Also against Atlanta, Miami may have shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria back in the lineup.

Stanton sees specialist for 'final check'

Before Giancarlo Stanton returns to action, the Marlins' All-Star right fielder on Tuesday went to see a hand specialist in New York to get a better indication of when exactly he might come off the disabled list.

Was a National League ?nalist at shortstop for Rawlings ® Gold Glove award...Finished season with most multi-hit games among National League shortstops (44), while ranking third in both batting average (.276) and hits (148)...By contrast, at All-Star break, ranked just seventh among NL shortstops in hits. Led NL shortstops in hits in second half (67), and was fourth in batting average (.276)...For season, tied for most four-hit games (3) among MLB shortstops (also, Erick Aybar, Eduardo Escobar and Hanley Ramirez)...His 10 triples tied four other players for second MLB, trailing Dee Gordon (12)...Improved batting average from .227 in 2013 to .276 in 2014, and on-base percent-age from .267 to .308...According to Elias, had ?fth-largest increase in batting average from 2013 to 2014 (min. 502 PA each season), at +.049.
