Played college baseball at the University of Rhode Island where he was the ace of the staff of the winningest club in school history (2009, 37 wins)...was awarded a Gold Glove by the ABCA/Rawlings during the 2009 season...resides in Southington, Conn.

Rookie left-hander began his season with Memphis (AAA) and made his Major League debut on 6/16, spending the majority of the season with St. Louis...Pitched mostly in relief at Memphis, going 3-3 in 22 relief outings (3.48 ERA); was a spot starter in five games for the Redbirds in which he went 1-1, 2.12 ERA (4ER, 17.0 IP). Lefties hit just .196 against him at Memphis...Joined the Major League club on three separate occasions and made one start among his 19 appearances with St. Louis...Was first purchased on 6/15 and earned the win after 3.1 relief IP (1R) in his MLB debut, 6/16 vs. NYM...Appeared in nine games (19.0 IP) for St. Louis before an option on 7/22. Recalled on 8/8 and optioned 8/30 to Springfield (AA) until a final recall on 9/2 for the remainder of the season...Inherited 10 baserunners during his relief outings with St. Louis, stranding all 10; retired 15 of his 18 first-batters faced in relief...Pitched a career high 4.0 scoreless relief innings on 6/28 at LAD and had nine appearances of 2.0 innings or more...Made his first MLB start in the season finale 9/28 at ARI, his 27th birthday.
