Pinder to see Dr. Andrews for second opinion

Yankees right-handed reliever Branden Pinder, who is currently on the 15-day disabled list with a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his pitching elbow, will see orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews this week for a second opinion on his injury, the team announced on Sunday.

Was drafted out of Cal State University, Long Beach, where he pitched for two seasons (2010-11)...also attended Santa Ana College (2008-09) and went 8-2 with a 4.23 ERA (93.2IP, 48K) as a freshman...earned All-Orange Empire honors in 2008 after tying for the team lead with 17 starts...helped guide Santa Ana to league championships in 2008 and '09...Graduated from Centennial High School (Corona, Calif.) in 2007...was named to the First-Team All-League squad in both his junior and senior years, leading the team to the playoffs in both years...helped guide the Huskies to a league championship in 2007...was named league "Pitcher of the Year" as a junior in 2006... was a four-year letterwinner.
