Mitchell Evan Haniger…graduated from Archbishop Mitty HS (CA)…attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for three years…earned Big West Freshman of the Year honors in 2010, batting .326 (58x178) with 15 doubles, 1 triple, 7 home runs and 46 RBI in 46 games…led the team in doubles (14), triples (2) and home runs (6) as a sophomore in 2011…named Big West Conference Player of the Year as a junior in 2012 after batting .346 (73x211) with 18 doubles, 1 triple, 13 home runs and 64 RBI in 56 games…his brother, Jason, was the Pirates' 19th-round pick in 2008 draft out of Georgia Tech… his
cousins play professional baseball: Alex Balog is a pitcher in the Rockies' organization and Nik Balog is an infielder in the independent leagues.
