Tigers set roster with Kensing addition, DL 6

The Tigers don't open their regular season until Tuesday night against the Marlins, but their Opening Day roster is set. Detroit officially purchased the contract of reliever Logan Kensing, then cut its roster to 25 Sunday by placing six players on the 15-day disabled list.

Nesbitt out 4-6 weeks with right ankle sprain

Angel Nesbitt pitched well enough that he had a case to be considered for a return to the Tigers' bullpen. A bad step in pitchers fielding drills Wednesday morning wiped that out.

2015

Split time between Detroit and Triple-A Toledo in 2015 -- compiled a 1-1 record with a 5.40 ERA (21.2IP/13ER) and 14 strikeouts over 24 appearances with the Tigers, while he had a 1-5 record with a 6.25 ERA (40.1IP/28ER) and 30 strikeouts in 27 outings with Toledo. Made an Opening Day roster for the first time in his career. Made his major league debut on April 8 vs. Minnesota, retiring the only batter he faced. Notched the first strikeout of his major league career on April 12 at Cleveland. Allowed just three earned runs in his first 11 major league appearances with the Tigers...posted a 2.38 ERA (11.1IP/3ER) and opponents hit .171 (7-for-41) against him during that span. Recorded his first major league win on May 12 vs. Minnesota, throwing 1.0 scoreless inning with one hit and one strikeout. Optioned to Triple-A Toledo on June 13.
