Christian Michael Lopes… selected in the 7th round of 2011 June Draft out of Edison High School in Huntington Beach, Calif…had committed to play baseball at USC before signing with Toronto…spent his 1st 2 years of high school at Valencia HS in Santa Clarita, Calif…as a 12-year-old in 2006, was named the U-13 Player of the Year by National Youth Baseball…played on 2010 18U USA Baseball National Team, batting .286 (18-63) with 4 2B and 10 RBI…was teammates with Francisco Lindor, Nicky Delmonico, and Lance McCullers, as the club finished 5th in the 2010 World Junior Championships in Thunder Bay, Ontario, its lone loss coming in the quarterfinals against Cuba…his younger brother, Tim, was selected in the 6th round of the 2012 June draft by Seattle, and was sent to Toronto on 9/30/16 as the player to be named later in a Pat Venditte trade…the brothers were never on the same team during the 2017 regular season in the Jays system.

2017

Spent the bulk of the season with Buffalo in his 1st Triple-A action…combined to bat .269 (94-349) with 7 HR and 46 RBI in 96 G with Buffalo, Dunedin (Hi-A), and the GCL Blue Jays…career highs with 7 HR, .357 OBP, 46 BB, and 19 SB…for Bisons, played 51 games at 3rd base and 30 at 2nd base…ranked among team leaders in doubles (2nd, 25), SB (3rd, 18), TB (4th, 134), BB (4th, 43)…hit .364 (36-99) against International League left-handed pitching…best month was June, batting .379 (25-66) with a 1.040 OPS in 22 G before a DL stint from 6/29-7/29 for a right ankle sprain sustained on 6/26 vs. Rochester…it is his only career DL visit…had brief rehab stint with GCL Blue Jays (3-for-8 in 2 G), then went 5-for-10 in 2 G with Dunedin before returning to Buffalo…hit .210 (21-100) in final 26 G after returning to the IL.

2016

Spent most of April with Dunedin before finishing season at New Hampshire (AA), combining to bat .283 (130- 460) with 31 2B, 6 HR, 56 RBI, and 64 R…set career highs in doubles and runs…after Eastern League All-Star break, batted .309 (58-188) in final 46 G beginning 7/14…played exclusively at 2nd base.

2015

Had 3 different stints at Double-A, but spent bulk of season in Florida State League, combining to bat .260 (88-338) in 104 G with Dunedin and New Hampshire… marked 1st career action at Double-A…played just one game at shortstop, the rest at 2nd base.

2014

Played entire season with Dunedin…selected to play winter ball with Canberra in Australian Baseball League, batting .371/.421/.581/1.002 (46-124) with 6 HR and 24 RBI in 31 G.

2013

Was with Lansing in A-ball Midwest League, setting career highs in games (129) and RBI (66) in his 1st full season as a pro.

Combined to bat .278 with .801 OPS for Bluefield in Rookie Appalachian League and Vancouver in Northwest League.
