Anthony John Wolters is a native of San Diego … graduated from Rancho Buena Vista High School in Vista, Calif., in 2010 … during his senior year he hit .430 (34-97) with 27 runs, six doubles, three triples, four homers and 17 RBIs in 25 games (25 steals) … in 2009 was part of the Team USA 18U club which defeated Cuba to win the gold medal in the Pan Am Junior Games, hitting .371 with four doubles and 10 RBIs … named to the Aflac All-American team and earned the game's MVP award as he was 2-4 with a triple, RBI and a stolen base in Petco Park … committed to play at the University of San Diego prior to signing with Cleveland after the 2010 draft (third round) … entered senior year ranked #11 overall on the MaxPreps Baseball Top 100 … is an avid fisherman in his spare time … on Twitter @TonyWolters

For the second straight season, left knee issues ended his season prematurely...Did not play after June 30 and underwent a left knee menisectomy on July 6 in Cleveland (Dr. Richard Parker) to repair a cartilage tear in the knee...Appeared in 56 games behind the plate and 3 at shortstop, did not hit above .231 in any of his three Minor League months and was just 7-for-61 (.115) against LHP...Threw out 49% of runners attempting to steal (38 of 77)...Designated for assignment on Feb. 12 to allow room for Tommy Hunter on the 40-man roster.

2014

Logged another season in his transition behind the p late, sp ending the season at AA Akron before a left knee strain ended his season on July 26...Ap p eared in 66 games at catcher (0 errors, 491TC) and threw out 25 of 53 baserunners attempting to steal off him (47%)...Also appeared in 10 games at second base and 8 games at shortstop...Was hitting .280 (54-193) thru games of June 6 before ailments and attrition took hold...W as 7-for-13 on the year with the bases loaded ... Played for Peoria in the Arizona Fall League after the season, batting .255 (14-55) with 5 runs scored and 8 RBI in 15 games ... Added to the 40-man roster on November 20.

2013

Entered the season rated the 7th-best prospect in the Indians system according to MLB.com, Wolters transitioned to catcher in spring training at the suggestion of Terry Francona…Spent the first month of the season at extended spring training working on his defense before being sent to Carolina where he spent the remainder of the season…Threw out 28% (25 of 90) of attempted base stealers, right in line with the Carolina League average of 30%...Faired better in the second half (.293/.393/.359) than he did in the first (.254/.336/.344), upping his walk rate, and cutting down on his strikeouts...Appeared in 58 games at catcher and 1 game apiece and second and short...Hit a combined .310 (44-142) in July and August, hit .303 (44-145) with runners on base and .314 (27-86) with RISP...After the season played in the Arizona Fall League.

2012

Spent season at A Carolina at just 20 years of age...Led the Carolina League in triples, finished T8th in doubles and 9th in runs scored...Hit .291 (73-251) in the 2nd half with 17 2B, 7HR, 31RBI and .818 OPS...Entered the season as the #7 rated prospect in the Indians organization according to Baseball America.
