Opened season at Triple-A New Orleans after going 0-3 with a 9.69 ERA (13.0 IP/14 ER) in Spring Training. Went 3-4, 4.47 (56.1/28) in 10 starts for Zephyrs prior to recall on May 31, including 2-1, 3.00 (33.0/11) in five starts in May. Had ninth-best ERA in National League in June, posting a 2.12 (34.0/8) in five starts. Had a 1.76 ERA (41.0/8) over first six starts of season with Miami. According to STATS LLC, was first pitcher 22-or-younger to throw 40.0-or-more innings with an ERA that low over first six starts of a season since Mark Prior in 2003 (1.67). Went 3-1, 2.33 over first eight starts with Marlins, with just one home run allowed, before closing out season with career-long seven-game losing streak over final 12 starts, with 10 home runs allowed in that span. Had a 4.92 ERA (64.0/35) during skid, with 5.34 walks per 9.0 innings and a 1.11 strikeout/walk ratio. Had 2.67 walks per 9.0 innings and a 2.19 strikeout/walk ratio over first eight starts of season.
