Joshua Patrick William Spence...attended Central Arizona College before transferring to Arizona State Central Arizona, was a two-time Arizona Community College Athletic Conference Player of the Year and two-time All-American...also a two-time JUCO Rawlings Gold Glove recipient and member of 2008 NJCAA All-Star team...transferred to Arizona State in 2009 and was named National Newcomer of the Year by named Third Team All-American by Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball, and First Team All-Pac-10 Conference...attended St. Joseph's College in Newtown, Victoria, Australia (High School)...won Australia's Golden Arm Award in 2007...received the Leo Turner Award in 2005, given to best graduating athlete at St. Joseph's.


Spent most of season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in the Yankees' organization, but was released on August 3 and did not sign with another team before end of season...Allowed just two earned runs over final 11 appearances for RailRiders, going 1-0 with one save and a 1.29 ERA (14.0 IP/2 ER)...Only save opportunity came on June 23 vs. Norwich...Had a season-high four strikeouts in 2.0 innings of work on July 21 vs. Louisville...Tossed season-high 3.1 innings on July 25 vs. Toledo, allowing two hits and striking out one batter in a 20-inning contest.
