William Douglas Mitchell Jr....attended North Forsyth Senior High School (NC)...three-time all-conference selection in baseball...also lettered in basketball... attended Clemson University...started college career as a position player...appeared in Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd" edition on Sept. 3, 2007 after leading the Cape Cod League in strikeouts...Originally selected by New York (AL) in the 10th round of the 2008 June Draft out of Clemson University. 2012 Acquired from the Yankees along with Danny Farquhar (rhp) in exchange for Ichiro Suzuki on July 23...made 8 starts for AAA Tacoma, going 3-2 with a 2.96 ERA (16 ER, 48.2 IP)...recorded 6 quality starts and held opponents to a .223 batting average (41x184)... made his Major League debut with the Yankees appearing in 4 games over two stints, April 29-May 4 & June 30-July 18...threw 1.0 shutout inning in MLB debut May 1 vs. Baltimore; struck out the first batter he faced (J.J.
