Graduated from Ross Sterling (Tex.) High School...named the 2008 All-Greater Houston "Player of the Year" by the Houston Chronicle...went 10-2 with a 2.27 ERA and 116 strikeouts as a senior...also served as the cleanup hitter, batting .440 with 10HR and 49RBI...signed a letter of intent at Rice University...has a brother (Chris) who serves in the Army. 2012 Spent the entire season with Double-A Trenton, going 13-7 with a 3.52 ERA (158.1 IP, 62 ER) and a team-high 120 Ks in 27 starts en route to being selected by fans as the Smith's ACE Hardware "Pitcher of the Year"...tied for the most wins among Yankees farmhands, ranked fourth in strikeouts and fifth in ERA...established career highs in wins, starts, innings pitched and strikeouts...Following the season, was tabbed by Baseball America as the Yankees' sixth-best prospect and as having the "Best Changeup" among Yankees' farmhands...Was added to the Yankees' 40-man roster on 11/20/12. 2011 Spent the entire season with Single-A Tampa and went 9-7 with a 3.78 ERA (140.1IP, 59ER) in 27G/26GS...earned the win in his lone relief appearance of the season on 7/21 at Bradenton, striking out eight batters and allowing 3H in 5.0 scoreless innings...marked only his third career appearance out of the bullpen and the first time that he recorded a win. 2010 Combined to go 4-2 with a 2.57 ERA (84.0IP, 24ER) in 36 games (35 starts) with the GCL Yankees, Single-A Charleston and Single-A Tampa...spent the majority of the year with Charleston, where he was 4-2 with a 2.50 ERA, making 13 starts and allowing 20ER in 72.0IP...made one postseason start for Tampa (Game 2 of the Championship round) and earned the victory, striking out five batters and allowing 2ER in 6.0IP (3H). 2009 Went 3-6 with a 5.56 ERA in 17 starts with Single-A Charleston...held lefthanders to a .231 batting average...season was cut short on 7/17 when he was placed on disabled list for the remainder of the season with right elbow tendinitis. 2008 Made his professional debut with the GCL Yankees, holding opponents to only one unearned run and two hits in three starts (6.0IP).
