Casey signed a one year minor league contract with the Cubs with an invitation to major league Spring Training in January ... he has appeared in parts of three major league seasons with the Padres (2012, 2015) and Braves (2016), going 2-8 with a 6.39 ERA (44 ER/62.0 IP) in 19 games, including nine starts...Missed the entire 2013 season and most of the 2014 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery on April 1, 2013 by Dr. James Andrews...Has gone 27-34 with a 3.92 ERA (245 ER/562.0 IP) in 123 minor league games, including 106 starts...Originally selected by the Red Sox in the first round (30th overall) of the 2008 Draft ... was acquired by San Diego along with Anthony Rizzo in the five-player trade for Adrian Gonzalez, December 5, 2010...Had signed a letter of intent to play quarterback at the University of Tennessee before committing to baseball...
