Herrmann to undergo surgery

Catcher/outfielder Chris Herrmann suffered a season-ending injury Friday night, breaking two fingers on his left hand on a slide into second base in the seventh inning.

The D-backs placed catcher/outfielder Chris Herrmann on the disabled list on Sunday with a strained right hamstring. Infielder/outfielder Mike Freeman was selected from Triple-A Reno to take Herrmann's place.
