Resides in Edmonds, WA during the offseason with his wife, Nicky. Graduated from Edmonds Woodway High School (WA) in 2005. Began his college career at the University of Portland, appearing in 15 games for the Pilots...transferred to Bellevue (WA) Community College, and later to Lewis-Clark State College where he went 8-1 with a 2.48 ERA to help the Warriors win the 2008 NAIA National Championship. Supports Gloves for Kids; attended the Annual Ilitch Charities Celebrity Golf Classic, the Tigers Winter Caravan and TigerFest. 

2015

Spent most of the 2015 season with the Tigers, appearing in 70 games -- posted a 5-3 record with a 3.08 ERA (61.1IP/21ER) and 55 strikeouts. Ranked tied for ninth in the American League with 70 appearances, while he was also tied for ninth among AL relievers with five wins. Recalled from Triple-A Toledo by the Tigers on April 9. Posted a 2-0 record with a 0.75 ERA (12.0IP/1ER) and 13 strikeouts in 14 relief appearances in the month of May... opponents batted .171 (7 for 41) during the month. Put together a stretch of 11 consecutive scoreless outings from April 26-May 20 -- gave up just five hits, two walks and struck out nine batters in 9.0 innings. Finished the month of July with a 0-1 record and a 2.08 ERA (13.0IP/3ER) in 14 appearances. Recorded a career-high four strikeouts over 2.0 innings on August 18 at Chicago Cubs. Allowed a home run on August 23 vs. Texas, snapping a streak of 84.2 homerless innings. Posted a 3-1 record with a 2.43 ERA (40.2IP/11ER) and 33 strikeouts in 39 outings prior to the All-Star break...went 2-2 with a 4.35 ERA (20.2IP/10ER) and 22 strikeouts in 31 games after the All-Star break. Split the 2013 season between Double A Erie and Triple A Toledo in his first season with the Tigers organization...Assigned to Erie to begin the season...Did not allow a run in his final eight appearances out of the bullpen with Erie from May 27-June 19 (15.0IP/0ER)...Had his contract transferred to Toledo on June 21...Named the International League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending August 26 -- tossed a one-hit complete game shutout and threw 7.0 innings, allowing just three hits in two starts during the week...Named the Tigers Minor League Pitcher of the Month for August after posting a 2-1 record and a 1.67 ERA (37.2IP/7ER) and 28 strikeouts in six starts during the month...Compiled a 6-1 record and a 1.69 ERA (64.0IP/12ER) and 53 strikeouts in 14 games (nine starts) with the Mud Hens...Appeared in eight games (two starts) with Mesa in the Arizona Fall League, posting a 2-0 record and a 3.38 ERA (16.0IP/6ER) and 16 strikeouts.
