Began fourth Major League season in bullpen, and ended up splitting season between bullpen and rotation, combining on 3-8 record and 4.38 ERA (111.0 IP/54 ER) with one save in 32 appearances...In 16 bullpen appearances, had no record and 4.57 ERA (21.2/11) with one save (one opportunity). In 16 starts went 3-8 with 4.33 ERA (89.1/43)...Recorded first career save on April 4 vs. San Diego (3.0 IP). Marked Marlins first save of 3.0 innings or more since April 22, 2007 by Kevin Gregg vs. Washington (3.0 IP), and just 10th in Franchise history (Randy Wolf later recorded 11th such game on May 14)...Placed on 15-day DL on May 24 with right ankle sprain. 2013

Despite missing considerable time due to injury, posted 3-5 record and 3.42 ERA (81.2 IP/31 ER) in 15 starts for Triple-A New Orleans, while also making seven appearances (two starts) with a 1-1 record and 3.05 ERA (20.2/7) with Miami. Posted 2-3 record and 3.19 ERA (42.1/15) in first eight starts of season with New Orleans before landing on disabled list with right oblique strain on May 20. Recalled by Miami on April 30 and made one appearance before being optioned back to NOLA on May 1. In May 1 appearance vs. Mets, walked two while striking out three over 1.2 scoreless innings. Was reinstated from DL on June 17, but reaggravated injury and was placed back on DL the next day. Reinstated from DL on July 30 following two rehab starts with GCL Marlins, going 0-1 with 1.13 ERA (8.0/1) while on rehab assignment. In first start back from rehab, held Colorado Springs scoreless on three hits with two walks and five strikeouts over 5.0 innings on July 30. In next start, August 4 vs. Reno, struck out season-high 11 batters and allowed just one hit in 6.0-inning performance to earn Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week honors for July 29-August 4. Went 7.1 innings on Aug. 29 vs. Memphis to mark a season best in innings pitched. Recalled again by Miami on September 3 and made six appearances over last month, including two starts. 2012 In 27 starts for Triple-A New Orleans, struck out career-high 141 batters. Among Marlins' farmhands, ranked second in strikeouts behind Jose Fernandez (158). His 11 wins were tied for third-most in organization with Adam Conley, behind Fernandez (14) and Tom Koehler (12). Recorded season-best 10 strikeouts in second start, April 11 vs. Memphis, over 6.0 innings. Equaled mark on May 29 vs. Albuquerque (7.1 IP) and again on June 25 vs. Memphis (7.0 IP). Over first two starts, allowed one unearned run in 11.0 innings. Held opponents to no earned runs in just four starts over remainder of season. Suffered worst start of season in last appearance, August 29 vs. Round Rock. Allowed seven runs (six earned) on six hits over just 0.1 inning. Went at least 6.0 innings in 17 of 27 starts, tossing a season-best 8.0 innings on July 5 vs. Oklahoma City. Allowed just four hits and three walks in the game, while striking out six. Fared better at home, going 6-3 with a 2.34 ERA (73.0 IP/19 ER) in 13 starts, compared to 5-4 with a 5.62 ERA (75.1/47) in 14 road games. Best month came in July, when he went 2-1 with a 2.20 ERA (32.2/8) in five starts. Surrendered 24 first inning runs, 14 more than any other inning (10 in both third and fourth innings). Recalled on August 3 to start first game of doubleheader against Washington.
