Had arguably the best season of any American League catcher, hitting .278 (135-485) with 25 doubles, 3 triples, 21 home runs and 74 RBI in 135 games in his first full season in the big leagues, his second in the Cleveland organization... Yan joined Carlos Santana, ..ictor Martinez, Sandy Alomar and John Romano as only Indians catchers (at least 60% games at C) with 20+ HR, 60+ R and 70+ RBI in a season... After the season he earned his first career American League Silver Slugger Award, becoming the first catcher in club history to win the award outright (Victor Martinez shared the award in 2004). He led all A.L. catchers in average (.278), OPS (.785) and ex tra base hits (49) and was second in RBI (74) and 3rd in homers (21) among A.L. players who played in 80% of their games at catcher...He was 2nd among MLB catchers in OPS ... Among all A.L. qualifying batters he was 12th in slugging pct (.472), 19th in OPS (.785) and 9th in average vs. LHP (.331) ... Season OPS of .879 off LHP was 12th-highest in the AL. Got better as the season went along, hitting .294 (69-235) from July 1 thru the end of the season with 16 2B, 12 HR and 46 RBI in 65 games...In the second half he hit .303 (60-198) with 13 2B, 9 HR and 38 RBI in 55 games as his .847 OPS was 12th-highest among all American League batters with at least 200 second half p late appearances ... 2013

Spent most of the season in Cleveland, posting an impressive season at and behind the plate for Terry Francona...Started the year at AAA Columbus, appearing in just six games total for the Clippers, and was with the Indians from April 9-24 and April 28 thru the remainder of the season...Overall made 79 starts (85 games) at catcher and 1 game at first base for Cleveland...Also made 1 start at DH...Indians pitchers recorded an ERA of 3.56 (710.0IP, 670H, 281ER) with Yan catching as he threw out an impressive 38.3% (18-47) of runners attempting to steal off him (would have led the AL with more appearances at catcher)...Indians were 49-30 (.620) when he started at catcher...Started 39 games at catcher in August and September (55 team games/22GS at C in 27 Sept team games)... 2012 Split the season between Las Vegas and Toronto, his first taste of big league action in just his 4th professional season... Was recalled by Toronto from Las Vegas (AAA) on five separate occasions...Had a solid year at AAA Las Vegas as his batting average (.328), slugging pct (.557) and OPS (.938) all would have ranked in the top 10 in the Pacific Coast League had it not been for the five stints in the big leagues. Started the year in Las Vegas and was recalled for the first time on May 17, collecting his first hit that day vs. New York-AL off Phil Hughes...Homered the next day (May 18) for the first time off NY Mets' Jonathon Niese...Hit four home runs at the Major League level, with the 4th being a game-tying 2-out, 9th inning home run vs. Minnesota off closer Glen Perkins...Collected hits in four of his first five games (5-14) batting .357 over that stretch...After that collected hits in just 13 of his final 38 contests (15-84) while batting .179.
