In January, Grayson married the former Madeline Walker...they honeymooned in Kauai and Maui...the couple met through mutual friends at Vanderbilt...Grayson was a college teammate of Curt Casali and A's pitcher Sonny Gray at Vanderbilt...they were three of 11 players selected out of Vandy in the 2011 June Draft...of the 11, only Gray (18th overall) was drafted higher than Garvin (59th)...Rays farm director Mitch Lukevics said Garvin is "the epitome of a professional...[Tommy John Surgery] set him back, but no one has better intangibles than Grayson Garvin"...Enjoys golfing and fishing in his spare time.

2014

Spent the year with Double-A Montgomery and turned in his healthiest pro season yet, making 20 starts...his 20 starts and 74 IP nearly equaled his 2012 and 2013 seasons combined (21 starts, 74.2 IP)...Increased his work load over the course of the season as he continued to regain strength from June 2012 Tommy John surgery...totaled only 24.1 IP over his first 10 starts, but threw 49.1 IP over his last 10 starts...Sidelined a month due to a lat strain...exited his start April 23 vs. Mississippi (Braves) and was activated May 26...also sustained a left rotator cuff strain in August, making his last start on Aug 20 vs. Tennessee (Cubs)...Held lefties to a .246 avg. (17-for-69) with only one walk and one extra-base hit, a double.
