In 2005 graduated from Seton Hall Preparatory School in West Orange, New Jersey, where he was named Gatorade's New Jersey High School Player of the Year following his senior season...attended Vanderbilt University.

2013

In his Major League debut made 3 apps during 2 stints with the Reds...was promoted for the first time on 8/22, following RHP Jonathan Broxton's season-ending right forearm injury, and returned to Louisville on 8/30, when Zach Duke was promoted...was recalled again when rosters expanded in September and made 2 more apps, in the 9-1 loss on 9/10 vs Cubs and 4-2 loss vs Pit in the season finale...made his Major League debut on 8/23 vs Mil and in that appearance recorded his first career strikeout (Logan Schafer)...was 1 of 7 Reds players to make his Major League debut (OF Derrick Robinson, RHP Justin Freeman, OF Donald Lutz, IF Neftali Soto, RHP Curtis Partch, OF Billy Hamilton)...was not on the Wild Card playoff roster...for the second straight season was a non-roster invitee to Major League spring training camp.
