Tyler Cole Chatwood … signed out of Redlands East Valley High School where he was twice named San Bernardino Player of the Year ('05 and '07) … went 9-1 with a 1.05 ERA (51.2 6 ER) and one complete game in 11 starts in his 2008 senior season, winning the Citrus Belt League MVP … also hit .521 with 13 doubles, six triples, one home run and 30 RBI as a shortstop … did not play as a sophomore due to Tommy John surgery.

2015

Made two rehab starts for High-A Modesto in September after having his second Tommy John surgery in July 2014. Pitched two innings Sept. 2 at San Jose, his first appearance in a game since April 29, 2014 at Arizona … allowed one run on three hits with two walks and one strikeout. Made his second start Sept. 7, Modesto's final game of the season, pitching two innings without allowing a base runner while striking out four.

2014

Made just four starts for the Rockies due to two disabled list stints...he made his season debut on April 13 at San Francisco (on DL April 2-12)...was placed on the disabled list with right elbow tightness on April 30 and later transferred to the 60-day DL on May 5 through the end of the season...had UCL replacement surgery (Tommy John) on his right elbow in mid-July...A strained left hamstring, which occurred on March 28 at SEA during Spring Training, forced him to miss his first scheduled start of the season...he was placed on the disabled list on April 2 (retroactive to March 29) because of the injury...he was a member of the Rockies Opening Day roster, his second Opening Day roster...he was activated on April 13 and made his season debut that day after making one rehab start for Triple-A Colorado Springs (6.1 IP, 5 H, 1 R-ER, BB, 8 SO)...In his next start on April 18 vs. Philadelphia, he received his first and only win of the year going 7.0 innings and allowing one unearned run on two hits with a season-high six strikeouts...Chatwood would make two more starts on April 23 vs. San Francisco and April 29 at Arizona...on April 29 at Arizona, Tyler was removed from the game after loading the bases to begin the bottom of the sixth inning...he was placed on the disabled list the next day, April 30, with right elbow tightness and would later be shut down for the year...In his start on April 18 vs. Philadelphia, Chatwood went 7.0 innings surrendering just two hits...at age 24 and 123 days, became the second-youngest Rockies pitcher to post 7.0 innings with just two hits in the history of Coors Field...the youngest pitcher to turn the trick was Shawn Chacon at age 23 and 173 days on June 14, 2001 in the first game of a doubleheader against Seattle...Since Chatwood joined the Rockies at the beginning of 2012, he has been one of the most consistent pitchers at keeping the ball on the ground...his 57.0% ground ball percentage since 2012 is the ninth-best in the Majors (min. 35 starts)...he had a 2.80 ground ball to fly ball ratio (210 GB/75 FB) in 2013, third-best among MLB starters behind Pittsburgh's Charlie Morton (3.37) and Minnesota's Samuel Deduno (2.99) (min. 100 IP)...his 2.65 GB/FB ratio in his three seasons with the Rockies (43 games/36 starts) is the best in franchise history (2nd is Aaron Cook, 2.63).

2013

Tyler Chatwood spent majority of the season on the Colorado roster, starting 20 games...between two seasons with the Rockies, he's made 39 appearances with 32 starts at the Major League level... Over the course of the season, he made 20 starts for the Rockies and went 8-5 with a career-best 3.15 ERA (111.1 ip, 39 er)...his 74.5 % groundball rate (213 GB/73 FB) led the team...he also allowed just .40 home runs per 9.0 innings which was the second-lowest mark among starting pitchers in the Majors (min. 20 starts)... At Coors Field he was 5-2 with a 3.50 ERA (61.2 ip, 24 er) with 5 quality starts in 11 tries while the Rockies were 7-4 in those starts...on the road, his record is 3-3 but his ERA is 2.72 (49.2 ip, 15 er) with 6 quality starts in 9 tries but the Rockies went just 4-5 in those starts... Despite missing 28 games, or roughly 5 starts, and not starting the season on the Rockies Opening Day roster, Chatwood forced opponents to ground into 17 double plays this year...that's the most among all starting pitchers with less than 125.0 innings pitched...10 of those GDPs came at Coors Field... He was 4-2 with a 2.25 ERA (48.0 ip, 12 er) in 8 starts, 5 of which were quality starts against the NL West...to finish the year, his final 4 starts against teams from within the division, he went 1-1 with a 2.13 ERA (25.1 ip, 6 er) and 3 quality starts... Chatwood set a career high with his seventh win on 7/26 vs. MIL...his previous season high was six wins in 2011 when he was with the Angels...on 7/26, he also struck out 11 Brewers which is his career high...he fell just 8 strikeouts short of his season high mark of 74 (2011)... Chatwood made 12 starts before the All-Star Break falling short of his pre All-Star Break career high of 17 games in 2011 with LAA...in 35 career games/28 starts in the first half, he's 11-8 with a 3.61 ERA (174.2 ip, 70 er)...in 22 games/20 starts after the All-Star Break he's just 5-11 with a 6.01 ERA (94.1 ip, 63 er)... On the season, Chatwood went 12-for-40 for a .300 clip...he added a double, 7 RBI and 3 runs...he was one of five pitchers to have three multi-hit games over the course of the year...his 7 RBI were tied for fifth among pitchers.

2012 The 22-year-old right-hander made 19 appearances/12 starts for the Rockies in 2012, his second season in the Majors. Chatwood finished the season 5-6 with a 5.43 ERA (64.2 ip, 39 er), 33 walks and 41 strikeouts in 12 starts/19 appearances, for the Rockies...he began the season with seven-straight relief appearances before making 12-straight starts. Chatwood made 12-straight starts for the Rox since his recall 8/5, posting a 4-5 record and a 4.88 ERA (51.2 ip, 28 er)...his 4.88 ERA as a starter was the second-lowest by any Rockies starter in 2012...additionally, he held opponents to a .269 batting average over his 12 starts, also second-lowest among Rox starters. Chatwood made seven relief appearance in his first two stints with the Rockies...in those seven outings, he went 1-1 with a save, a 7.62 ERA (13.0 ip, 11 er), five walks and eight strikeouts...in his nine career relief outings, the right-hander is 1-1 with a save, a 6.38 ERA (18.1 ip, 13 er), 6 walks, 10 strikeouts and an opponent average of .363 (29-for-80). Made the Rockies Opening Day roster, the first time in his career to make an Opening Day roster...made his Major League debut last season with the Angels...at 22-years-old was the youngest player on Rox Opening Day roster. Converted his first career save in his fourth career relief appearance on 4/11 vs. SF...in that outing went 3.0 innings, allowing one run on two hits and a home run...was the longest save by a Rockie since Jason Hammel earned a 4.0 inning save 9/11/11 vs. CIN. Chatwood has forced 32 opponent grounded into double plays in his first two seasons...that mark is 10 more than any other Rockie from 2011-12...Jeff Francis is second with 22 opponent GIDP despite tossing almost 90 innings more than Chatwood...Chatwood has averaged a 1.39 GIDP per 9.0 innings pitched rate in his career. Chatwood spent time in the Minors with both Triple-A Colorado Springs (4/17-6/29) and Double-A Tulsa (7/13-8/5) after being optioned from the Majors...over 13 starts between the two Minor League stops, Chatwood went 1-3 with a 4.70 ERA (61.1 ip, 32 er).
