Indians activate two from disabled list

The Indians recalled right-hander Shawn Armstrong, activated right-hander Gavin Floyd from the 60-day disabled list and activated infielder Chris Johnson from the 15-day disabled on Tuesday as the maximum active roster size expanded to 40.

Full name SHAWN MICHAEL ARMSTRONG… Single...Graduated from West Craven High School in 2008 where he played baseball and ran cross country...Two-time Coastal 8 All-Conference selection in HS...As a senior picked up pre-season Rawlings and Louisville Slugger All-America honors but was limited due to July 2008 right shoulder (labrum) surgery that forced a medical red shirt in 2009 at East Carolina...Baseball America ranked him No. 60 in the country in its Top P rospect Ranking in the Fall of 2007...Four-time honor roll student in HS...Played two seasons (2010-11) for East Carolina, posting a strong showing in the Coastal Plain League in 2011 before signing with Cleveland (2.82 E RA, 54.1IP , 38H, 68K ).

2014

Spent most of the season at Double-A Akron, going 6-2 with a 2.12 ERA in 44 games (51.0IP , 39H, 12E R, 68K , .211 AVG ) and was named to the Eastern League Midseason All-Star team...Posted 12 straight scoreless outings from April 11-May 13 (13.2IP , 6H, 0R, 4BB, 19K )...Posted scoreless outings in his last six appearances (6.1IP , 2H, 0R, 11K ) before being promoted to Columbus on August 18...Allowed runs over his first two outings with Columbus, but followed that up with three 1.0-inning scoreless outings to end regular season and two scoreless playoff appearances for the Clippers (3.0IP , 2H, 0R, 5K )...Combined on the year Minor League hitters batted .213 (43-202) off him with right-handed batters hitting just .179 (21-117)...Added to the 40-man roster on November 20.
