The Rangers placed catcher Carlos Corporan on the disabled list on Friday due to his sprained left thumb, and they recalled Tomas Telis from Triple-A Round Rock to serve as the backup to Robinson Chirinos.

Had contract purchased from Round Rock (AAA) on 8/25 and spent the rest of the year with Texas in his first major league action...had 18 starts, 17 at catcher and one as designated hitter...had hits in 13 of 18 games, one BB in 71 plate appearances...switch-hitter batted .259 (15-58) vs. RH pitchers, .200 (2-10) vs. lefties...hit .333 (7-21) with runners in scoring position and was 2-for-3 with bases loaded...all 8 RBI came on the road...started Rangers' 2-0 win 8/25 at SEA, a combined shutout for Miles Mikolas and Neftali Feliz...became first player to catch a shutout in his ML debut since Pittsburgh's Jason Kendall on Opening Day, 4/1/96 at FLA...also recorded first ML hit in that game with an infield single in the 7th inning off Brandon Maurer...had career-high 3 RBI in 2nd career start 8/27 at SEA, a 3-run double off Erasmo Ramirez...threw out 1 of 17 runners attempting to steal and posted .991 (1 E/112 TC) fielding pct…after season, played 25 games for Magallanes in Venezuelan Winter League.
