Reds' Cabrera cleared to resume backup duties

Catcher Raffy Lopez was summoned from Triple-A Louisville and instead of an actual big league promotion, got a free overnight stay in downtown Denver on Sunday and a visit to Coors Field on Monday morning. But the Reds never made a roster move. Lopez was insurance, of sorts, because backup catcher Ramon Cabrera was dealing with a sore left hand.

Torn shoulder labrum puts Mesoraco on DL

After he missed most of last season with a hip injury, Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco will have to sit out again for a while in 2016. On Monday, Mesoraco was placed on the 15-day disabled list with another serious injury -- a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
