Dae-Eun begins his fifth year in the Cubs organization after he was signed out of Seoul, South Korea in August of 2007...is an invitee to major league Spring Training for the first time in his career...Has gone 17-22 with a 4.37 ERA (141 ER/290.2 IP) in 66 career minor league games, 56 starts...has struck out 227 hitters compared to 105 walks in 290.2 innings pitched...Led the Florida State League with four complete games in 2011...Named the organization's fourth-best prospect by Baseball America heading into the 2009 campaign. 2011 Was 8-7 with a 4.02 ERA (57 ER/127.2 IP) in 25 games (17 starts) for Florida State League champion, Single-A Daytona...led the league with four complete games, including one shutout...Began the season primarily in the bullpen, posting a 2.66 ERA in his first five games through May 16...Was on the D.L., April 10-May 1, with a blister on his right middle finger...Was a full-time starter, May 21-July 11, going 3-5 with a 4.30 ERA (29 ER/60.2 IP) and three complete games in 11 starts...split his time between the starting rotation and bullpen for the remainder of the season...Closed out the regular season by going 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA (12 ER/38.0 IP) in six August contests, three starts...Had a 5.29 ERA (10 ER/17.0 IP) in the first inning of his 17 starts compared to a 3.94 ERA (33 ER/75.1 IP) in all other innings...Walked two or fewer in 14 of his 17 starting efforts...Pitched to a 3.57 ERA (14 ER/35.1 IP) in his eight relief appearances. 2010 In his first season at Single-A Daytona, Dae-Eun went 5-13 with a 5.27 ERA (67 ER/114.1 IP) in 26 games (25 starts)...walked 40 and struck out 70...Walked two or fewer in 19 of his 25 starts...Posted a 4.24 ERA (24 ER/51.0 IP) in 12 games (11 starts) in the season's first half...had a 6.11 mark (43 ER/63.1 IP) following the All-Star break...Produced a 2.83 ERA (9 ER/28.2 IP) in five July starts...had a 3-2 record in those outings. 2009 Began the year on the D.L., continuing to recover after "Tommy John" surgery...appeared in five September games between Rookie-League Mesa and Single-A Boise. 2008 In his first professional experience, Dae-Eun was 4-1 with a 1.80 ERA (8 ER/40.0 IP) in 10 starts for Single-A Peoria before injuring his right elbow...underwent "Tommy John" surgery, July 15, performed by Dr. Stephen Gryzlo.
