Matt hew David Shoemaker... On Twitter: @Matt Shoemaker33. He and his wife, Danielle, had their first son, Brady, on Jan. 8, 2015. Attended Trenton HS (MI) and Eastern Michigan University. Participated in 2016 Angels Fan Cruise with teammate Hector Santiago. In 2011, the Arkansas Travelers gave away Matt Shoemaker 'Goatee Face T-Shirts' and Matt Shoemaker 'Removable Goatees' to commemorate Shoemaker's facial hair. Played for the United States national team in the 2011 Baseball World Cup in Panama and the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. Originally signed by Angels scout Joel Murrie.

2015

Pitched in 25 games (24 starts) for Angels, with a 7-10 record and 4.46 ERA (135.1 IP - 67 ER). Had career-best streak of winning nine consecutive decisions snapped April 20 vs. Oakland… During that span, was 9-0 with a 1.92 ERA (61 IP - 13 ER) across 10 games (nine starts), dating back to August 9, 2014. On May 29 the Angels hosted a Matt Shoemaker bobblehead night. From July 21 - August 4, compiled a streak of 19 consecutive shutout innings and joined Nolan Ryan and John Lackey as the only Angels with three consecutive starts with zero runs allowed and seven-or-more strikeouts. Pitched to a 1.73 ERA (41.2 IP - 8 ER) in seven home starts from May 26 - August 4. Issued one-or-fewer walks in 14 of 24 starts, including four starts with zero walks allowed. 36 of 70 runs allowed scored on home runs (24 home runs allowed). Was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake August 16... Made one start for the Bees August 22 vs. Iowa and was charged with the loss aft er tossing six innings and allowing three runs (all unearned)...
