A's reach one-year deal with Alonso, tender four others

The A's reached a one-year agreement with first baseman Yonder Alonso on Friday, while also tendering contracts to each of their other arbitration-eligible players: right-handers Sonny Gray and Liam Hendriks, outfielder Khris Davis and catcher Stephen Vogt.

2015

Pitched exclusively in relief for the first time in his career and was 5-0 with a 2.92 ERA in 58 games with Toronto…had career highs in games, strikeouts (71) and wins…his ERA was a career low as was his .240 opponents batting average, .276 on-base percentage and .329 slugging percentage…issued 11 walks in 64.2 innings and his average of 1.53 walks per nine innings ranked eighth lowest among American League relievers…struck out 71 and his strikeout-to-walk ratio of 6.45 ranked fourth…also tied for ninth in wins…his opponents batting average included a .207 (29-for-140) mark against righthanded hitters compared to .283 (30-for-106) against left-handers…entered the season with a .328 career average against righties…allowed a .204 batting average with the bases empty, .293 with runners on base…however, surrendered a .179 batting average with runners in scoring position and two outs… opponents were 0-for-7 with the bases loaded…yielded a .134 batting average with two strikes…the opponents number four hitter was 1-for-25 (.040)…allowed 9-of-30 (30.0%) inherited runners to score… first batters faced were 13-for-53 (.245) with four walks and a hit by pitch (.310 on-base percentage)… did not allow a run in 11 interleague games (11.2 ip, 4 h, 1 bb, 18 so)…had a 2.21 ERA and .213 opponents batting average in 32 games at home, a 3.86 ERA and .273 opponents average in 26 contests on the road…has a 3.96 ERA (61 er in 138.2 ip) in his career at home compared to 6.59 (84 er in 114.2 ip) on the road…logged a 1.75 ERA in 21 day games, a 3.69 ERA in 37 outings at night…tossed more than one inning in 19 of his 58 games, including two or more 10 times…never walked more than one batter in an outing.

Had two separate stints with the Blue Jays before being dealt to Kansas City with Erik Kratz for Danny Valencia on July 28... Made six starts (three each for TOR and KC) before his final three outings out of bullpen with Royals. In his Blue Jays debut May 23 vs. OAK (5.1IP/1ER), picked up his 3rd career win and 1st ever home victory (0-6 previously). Recorded a season-high seven innings on Aug. 27 vs. MIN, allowing just one run, however received a no-decision.
