Evan Scribner, a 30-year-old right-hander who had a strong first half last season for Oakland before finishing the year on the disabled list with a torn lat muscle, was acquired by the Mariners on Tuesday for Minor League right-hander Trey Cochran-Gill as general manager Jerry Dipoto continued adding to his bullpen depth.

Evan Lee Scribner…graduated from Shepaug Valley High School in Connecticut…attended Central Connecticut State University.

2014

Spent most of the season with Triple-A Sacramento where he was 4-1 with 16 saves and a 3.06 ERA in 40 relief appearances…also went 1-0 with a 4.63 ERA in 13 games over four stints with Oakland…now has nine stints with the A's over the last two years…did not walk a batter in 11.2 innings with Oakland and struck out 11…however, allowed four home runs after yielding six in 76.0 innings over his first three seasons…his .255 opponents on-base percentage was a career low but his .522 slugging percentage was a career high…allowed a .239 opponents batting average, including .158 (3-for-19) against left-handed hitters compared to .296 (8-for-27) with all four of his home runs against right-handers…righties had a .778 slugging percentage compared to .158 by lefties…has yielded eight of his 10 career home runs to righties…three of the four home runs he allowed were solo shots…stranded both of his inherited runners…first batters faced were 2-for-13 (.154)…compiled a 2.25 ERA in four day games, a 5.87 ERA in nine night games…now has a 2.04 ERA (8 er in 35.1 ip) in 27 career games during the day compared to a 5.50 ERA (32 er in 52.1 ip) in 44 contests at night…tossed exactly 1.0 inning in 11 of his 13 appearances and retired just one batter in his other two outings…was on the A's Opening Day roster and did not allow a run in two appearances (1.1 ip) before he was optioned to Sacramento April 7 when Cook was reinstated from the disabled list…recalled June 17 but did not pitch before he was sent back to Sacramento June 20…returned for his third stint July 24 and did not allow a run in three of his four outings (2.25 ERA) before he was designated for assignment Aug. 1 and optioned to Sacramento Aug. 2…promoted for a final time Aug. 28 and spent the remainder of the season with the A's…allowed at least one run in three of his seven appearances during his last stint for a 7.11 ERA.

SACRAMENTO: Converted 16-of-20 (80.0%) save opportunities with the River Cats and tied for fifth in the Pacific Coast League in saves…however, was second on his team to Jeremy McBryde (17)… struck out 72 batters in 47.0 innings, an average of 13.79 per nine innings…walked just nine (1.72 per nine innings) for a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 8.00…allowed a .223 opponents batting average, including .218 (22-for-101) against right-handed hitters compared to .230 (17-for-74) against left-handers… surrendered three of his four home runs to righties…held opponents to a .190 batting average and .261 on-base percentage when leading off an inning…however, they hit .296 with runners in scoring position and two outs…compiled a 2.01 ERA and .191 opponents batting average in 25 games at home compared to a 5.17 ERA and .283 opponents average in 15 appearances on the road…did not allow a home run in 31.1 innings at home, compared to four in 15.2 innings on the road…was charged with three of his four blown saves on the road…inherited just two runners and allowed one to score…tossed at least one inning in 38 of his 40 appearances, including a season-high 2.0 innings seven times…did not walk a batter 33 times…did not allow a run in six April outings following his option from Oakland April 7 and converted each of his four save opportunities (7.0 ip, 3 h, 2 bb, 10 so)…including April 15 against Fresno when he had a season-high four strikeouts in a season-high 2.0 innings pitched…then allowed six runs over his first two games in May, including May 5 at El Paso when he yielded a season-high four runs in 0.2 innings for his first blown save and loss…walked a season-high two batters May 22 against El Paso…it was one of two times he walked more than one batter (Aug. 8 at Reno, also two)…finished May with a 7.82 ERA in 11 appearances…was 2-1 with nine saves and a 4.32 ERA 21 appearances when he was promoted to Oakland June 17…was optioned back to Sacramento June 20 and logged a 1.42 ERA in 10 appearances during his second stint the with the River Cats…did not allow a run over his first eight games following his return, giving him a 10-game, 13.0-inning scoreless streak from June 10 to July 11…struck out a season-high four batters June 26 against Las Vegas and July 2 against Fresno… that was part of a 25-game streak from May 19 to Aug. 18 where he struck out one or more in each appearance…fanned 55 batters in 30.1 innings over that stretch (16.32 per nine innings)…recalled by Oakland a second time July 24 and returned to Sacramento in August…compiled a 1.93 ERA and .129 opponents batting average over his final nine appearances before joining the A's a final time Aug. 28.

Spent most of the season with Triple-A Sacramento but appeared in 18 games over five stints with the A's…had no decisions, a 4.39 ERA and .243 opponents batting average…allowed a .220 (11-for-50) opponents average against left-handed hitters compared to .263 (15-for-57) with all three of his home runs against right-handers…first batters faced were 5-for-18 (.278) with no walks … allowed 3-of-9 (33.3%) inherited runners to score…had a 3.65 ERA in nine games in Oakland, 5.02 in nine games on the road … tossed at least one inning in 17 of his 18 outings, including two or more six times…was on the A's Opening Day roster and allowed a run in each of his first two appearances for a 5.40 ERA… then did not allow a run in his next five outings for a 7.1-inning scoreless streak from April 7 to 19 … the streak ended April 19 at Tampa Bay when allowed four runs on four hits in 3.0 innings … all three figures matched his career high…had a 4.26 ERA and .224 opponents batting average in eight games when he was optioned to Sacramento April 20…returned April 30 and allowed five runs on eight hits in 6.0 innings over four games during his second stint (7.50 ERA) … matched his career high by tossing 3.0 innings May 9 at Cleveland…also allowed three runs in the game and was optioned to Sacramento the next day … returned Aug. 3 and appeared in just one game Aug. 4 against Texas (1.0 ip, 1 h, 1 so) before he was sent back to Sacramento Aug. 9…did not pitch during his fourth stint from Aug. 26 to 28…was recalled Sept. 3 when the Triple-A season ended and logged a 2.57 ERA in five appearances in September … allowed two runs in 1.0 inning in his final outing of the season Sept. 22 against Minnesota to snap a 9.0-inning scoreless streak dating back to May 9.
