Last name is pronounced RY-fer...Attended the University of California-Riverside...Was a member of the 2007 UC-Riverside Big West Championship squad which produced Cardinals pitchers Marc Rzepczynski and Joe Kelly.


Completed his sixth minor league season with triple-A New Orleans in the Miami Marlins organization...Was released by the Cardinals during spring training, on March 13 and signed a minor league contract with the Marlins on May 16...Went 2-1 with a 1.32 ERA (6ER , 41.0 IP) in 28 relief appearances with the Zephyrs...Held the opposition scoreless in his first 17.0 innings pitched (first 11 appearances).


Was on the Cardinals' 40-man roster in 2012...Tied for the Pacific Coast League lead in appearances with 58 while playing for Memphis in 2012…his 58 appearances led all Cardinals minor league pitchers.


In 2011 he had right knee surgery that ended his season after making just five appearances.
