Resides in Santa Maria, CA during the offseason...Graduated from Quincy, CA High School in 2004...Attended Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and went 4-3 with a 3.19 ERA (42.1IP15ER) and 11 saves as the Mustangs' closer in 2007...his 11 saves ranked second all-time in school history...named Second Team All-Big West following the season...Participated in the Tigers Winter Caravan.

Opened the 2013 season in the Marlins organization before being acquired off waivers by the Tigers on April 3...Assigned to Triple A Toledo to begin the season...Did not allow an earned run in eight consecutive appearances from May 7-June 2...Recalled by the Tigers from Toledo on May 16 -- made his major league debut the same night in Texas...Optioned to Toledo by the Tigers on May 19...Recalled from Toledo by the Tigers on June 10...Struck out a career-high three batters on June 19 versus Baltimore...Tossed a career-high 2.2 innings on June 25 versus the Los Angeles Angels -- matched the high on September 22 versus the Chicago White Sox...Optioned to Toledo by the Tigers on August 4...Posted a 1-4 record, a 2.54 ERA (49.2IP/14ER) and 49 strikeouts in 32 games with Toledo this season...Recalled by the Tigers from Toledo on September 1 -- appeared in four games with the club during the month...Limited lefties to a .289 average (11x38)...righties batted .309 (17x55) with him on the mound.

Picked up win in relief, pitching 0.2 inning...Failed to convert first three save opportunities with NOLA; all three blown saves came in set-up role...Earned only save for Zephyrs on August 15 vs. Sacramento, pitching 2.0 innings with three strikeouts. Returned to bullpen for next five outings and did not allow an earned run over 6.0 innings...Promoted to Jupiter and made debut there on August 3.
